This sketch shows the cumulative area function as a shaded area and as an antiderivative curve.  The linear version comes with a family of functions, and I love watching how the position of a (the lower limit of integration) relates to the particular antiderivative that represents the shaded area.

I was working on this a year ago and never quite resolved the cubic case, but maybe I will get to it.
